ONE DAY OLD	Dec 19 -- Born at 4:27 in the afternoon, 7 lb 15 oz 20 1/4 inches -- First snow fall of the year Dec 21 -- Kept Daddy up all night long Dec 22 -- My first doctor's appointment Dec 23 -- Smiled at Daddy while he was feeding me with the syringe. Dec 24 -- Home from the hospital Dec 26 -- I kept mommy up all night. I ate at midnight, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 AM Dec 28 -- My first bath at home. I like the water
TWO WEEKS OLD	Jan 2 -- 2 week check up. I weighed 8 lb and 9 oz, 20 1/2 inches tall Jan 8 - Jember, Sami, Teddi & Beniyam arrived Jan 9 -- Minilik, Dagm & Mezgi arrived Jan 11 -- Kidu joined us. Meraf surprised us Jan 12 -- Started sucking my thumb Jan 17 -- Everyone went home Jan 18 -- I slept 6 hours straight.
ONE MONTH OLD	Jan 19 -- First visit to the Baha'i Center to see Zylpha Mapp Robinson Jan 20 -- President Bush sworn in Jan 22 -- Dad flew to Kansas to get Grandma Jan 24 -- Dad and Grandma arrived Jan 26 -- Followed daddy's movements around the room Jan 30 -- Dr.'s Appointment -- I weighed 10 lb and 4 oz, 22 3/4 inches tall Feb 2 -- I slept 8 hous and went to my first restaurant for Dad's birthday Feb 6 -- Mom started going back to work Feb 6 -- Attended my first Feast. FAVORITE TOY: Mobile
TWO MONTHS OLD	Feb 21 -- Went to Mom's work Feb 21 -- Laughed at Mom Feb 23 -- Grandpa & Uncle Shane came. My first Ayyam-i-Ha Feb 27 - Dr's Appointment. I weight 11 lb 4 oz. 24 inches tall. I got 2 shots and I cried and cried and cried. Mar 3 -- Amelia, her mom Julie, and her grandma Susie, came by to visit. Mar 4 -- Starting to smile a lot and laugh a little. Especially when they change my diapers Mar 9 -- Starting to use my hands more purposefully Mar 12 -- Love to suck my thumb Mar 13 -- Held bottle with my hands Mar 16 -- My first road trip with the Baha'i Youth Workshop to North Carolina! Mar 17 -- Slept 9 hours straight! Mar 17 -- Can make rasberries and gurgling sounds FAVORITE TOY: Muscial steering wheel with remote control that Uncle Shane gave me
THREE MONTHS OLD	Mar 19 -- I can say "ah-boo" and "gooo" Mar 20 -- I laugh when you make kissing sounds, rasberries, or when you play with my feet Mar 20 -- My first Naw Ruz. I met Elham -- the son of Leo Musta & Sandra Morales Mar 21 -- I can grab at dangling toys and put them in my mouth Mar 24 -- I slept 9 hours straight again. I like sleeping in on the weekends. Mar 27 -- I like sitting up better than laying on my back all day. I'm starting to like the swing (I think) Mar 28 -- I saw myself in the mirror and laughed really hard Mar 29 -- Went to see the doctor. I got 2 shots but didn't cry too much. I weigh 12 pounds 1 oz and 25 inches. Doc says I should eat more! Mar 30 -- Noticed the dog -- Shanna Mar 31 -- I went to Linda & Gavin's wedding. I saw Amelia again (Julie Porch & Ashwin Deshmack's daughter). I also met Rowan Wiley (son of Tracey & Tom Wiley) and Juliet Moncho (daughter of Amelia & Rocky Moncho). April 1 -- Starting to squeeeeeeeeeal! April 1 -- Can lift my head when on my stomach April 1 -- Starting taking formula in addition to breast milk sometimes April 7 -- Spent an hour on the back patio -- first time outside for extended period of time. I was really quiet April 15 -- I seem to have forgotten how to suck my thumb. But I love to play with my hands, and grab toys and put them in my mouth April 18 -- I noticed mom's bracletts and played with them FAVORITE TOY: The Six-Legged Octopus
FOUR MONTHS OLD	April 20 -- I started becoming afraid of strangers. I cry when anyone but mom, dad or grandma try to hold me April 22 -- I like to make drawn out vowel sounds "ahhhh" "ewwww" "eeeeee" "oooo". I like to try to talk louder than anyone else in the room. April 23 -- I love standing up in mommy's lap April 24 -- I said something that sounded like "hi" to a doorman, and he said "hi" back. April 26 -- Started pre-teething -- drooling & chewing on everything -- especially mom's hand. April 27 -- I hold toys with 2 hands, and can transfer toys from hand to hand. April 28 -- I hit dad's fork and knocked food down on the ground for the first time! April 28 -- I like to play peek-a-boo April 29 -- I went to the zoo with mom, Grandma, Rebecca & Kadija. Mommy carried me in a sling and I slept most of the time. April 30 -- I went to the doctor. I weigh 13 lb 9 oz. and I'm 25 1/2 inches long. The doctor said I can start eating solids! April 30 -- My first solids. I ate some very watery cereal with a spoon. I mostly spit it out. Mom is putting a TBLS of cereal in my bottle twice a day now May 2 -- My grandma went back to Kansas and I got a new nanny -- Haleweya. I cried for the first couple hours when I met her, but by late morning we were pretty good friends. May 4 -- I love to screeeeeeeech as loud as I can May 6 -- When they try to put in in my bouncer, i try to sit up by propping myself up on my elbows until I eventually get tired and fall forwards or backwards May 8 -- I can grab my feet and put them in my mouth May 11 -- I like to try to sit -- but I usually end up folding in half onto the floor. May 14 -- I rolled over for the first time! From my stomach onto my back. Mom started clapping and I laughed at her. May 18 -- I've been sleeping regularly through the night since I was one month old. FAVORITE TOY: Colorful teething beads, Fish, and Elephant Rattle, Keys
FIVE MONTHS OLD	May 19 -- I like eating rice cereal with a spoon May 19 -- Sitting up unaided. (leaning on my hands in front) May 24 -- First vegetable -- SQUASH May 24 -- Went to Ocean City, Maryland May 24 -- Can sit unaided and play with toys, but I fall over sometimes May 26 -- I'm reaching for things -- especially at the dinner table. Starting to throw things on the floor May 27 --Interacting more with my parents -- and expressing my opinion May 28 -- Ate CARROTS June 1 -- Ate SWEET POTATO June 8 -- Ate APPLESAUCE (first fruit) June 12 -- Ate PEACHES June 14 -- FIRST TOOTH!!! starting to come in June 18 -- Ate BANANAS FAVORITE TOY: Paper!
SIX MONTHS OLD	June 19 -- 15 pounds and 4 3/4 ounces 26 and 3/4 inches June 20 -- Went swimming with Mom June 23 -- Ate PEAS (first green vegetable) June 23 -- Stayed up til 2:30 AM June 24 -- Slept in til 11:00 AM June 25 -- Starting to not sleep as well. Only 4 to 6 hours at a time. June 26 -- Ate GREEN BEANS June 29 -- I can crawl backwards June 30 -- I ate PEARS July 1 -- Uncle Shane came to visit July 2 -- I thurst arms and make grunting noises with throat Early July -- I definitely stopped sleeping through the night. July 5 -- Aunt Meraf came to visit July 6 -- Flew on an airplane to Kansas. I behaved. July 7 -- I chew on my fist while waving my hand July 9 -- I initiate play -- I thrust arms forward and grunt, wait for response, and then I do it again July 10 -- My first bagel. Eating biscutts Early July -- More communicative July 12 -- Second tooth starting to appear July 15 -- Flew back home. Tried to take annoyed man's newspaper on the plane July 16 -- Move head to see around objects (to see mom and dad) July 17 -- KISSES -- not very well. But definitley trying to kiss FAVORITE TOY: Still Paper!
SEVEN MONTHS OLD	July 20 -- Saying consonant sounds once in awhile -- "Ba" July 21 -- Very interested in crawling, but one of my legs gets in the way Late July -- Becoming more mobile. Rocking back and forth on hands and knees. Scooting backwards around the room. Can sit from stomach. Sut still can't roll from back to front. Hates lying on back. Late July -- Started sleeping through the night again Late July -- Babbling "da da da da da" "ba ba ba ba ba" "abooooooo" "agoooo" July 30 -- Juliet is temporariily babysitting me for three weeks Aug 3 -- Turned over from back to front to sitting Aug 5 -- I crawl like a commando with my body flat on the ground, digging my elbows into the ground to drag my body forward. But I will only do it for PAPER! my favorite thing to eat. Aug 8 -- "da da da da da da" "squeeeeealll" "screeech" Aug 10 -- Not much of a bouncer. But will bounce when bounced. (Indicates "do it again" during physical play) Aug 12 -- Like to spit out my food. Mom and Dad having a hard time giving me enough to eat since I take so much pleasure in spitting and spurting it out all over myself and my parents. Aug 14 -- Crawled over to Mom when she came home from work Aug 15 -- Tried to wave Aug 15 -- Crawled from living room into the kitchen Aug 16 -- Crawling on knees Aug 16 -- Clearly kisses FAVORITE TOY: I absolutely love my Teletubby doll (La La). I hug and kiss it. I rest my head on it. I squeal when I see it and crawl over to it.
EIGHT MONTHS OLD	Aug 20 -- Started vacation to Minneapolis and Wisconsin. 2 days driving there. 2 days driving back Aug 20 -- I say "nya nya nya nya nya" or "maaaa maaaa" when unhappy Aug 20 -- Not chewing on stuff as much as I used to Aug 21 -- I say "brrrrrrrrrr" Aug 22 -- I learned that if i drop something on the floor, someone will magically pick it up and give it back to me. Aug 23 -- I met another baby my same age. I was fascinated by her. I kissed her. Aug 25 -- I entertained people sitting behind me at the Green Lake Conference. Aug 26 -- Mom and Dad gave me a whole peach. I chewed on it for a half hour. I ate half of it. Aug 27 -- Drove home from vacation. Aug 28 -- I got a new babysitter named "Aynalem" Aug 28 -- I can crawl from room to room Aug 28 -- I try to stand. I get one foot up, but not the other yet Aug 28 -- I'm starting to point at everything Aug 28 -- I'm able to pick up food with my thumb and forefinger. But I'm not good at getting it in my mouth. Aug 31 -- At the doctor's office, the staff called "JASMINE" and I turned to look. Aug 31 -- When the doctor saw how many inches I had grown he said "She must be a giant" Aug 31 -- 16 pounds 8 1/2 ounces 28 1/2 inches Mid to Late August -- I don't sleep through the night anymore. I get up once or twice a night Sep 1 -- I love cats and dogs. I squeal, point and lunge forward when I see them. I chased a cat at Katherine and Boota's mom's house. I got two fists full of fur to prove it! Sep 1 -- I at injera. Also salmon and rice. Sep 3 -- Mom and Dad went to the Maryland State Fair and left me with a babysitter. When they got home, I crawled over to Mommy and held onto her leg. Sep 4 -- Staying up allllll night. Sep 4 -- I love to watch children's shows and cartoons on television. I squeal, talk and get excited. Mom and Dad won't let me watch more than 1 or 2 shows a day Sep 5 -- I'm fascinated with doors! I've learned how to open and close doors, cabinets and drawers. I love to swing doors open and closed Sep 8 -- I'm interested in the light switch. I notice that the light goes on and off when the switch is flipped Sep 8 -- I know how to take the safety plugs out of the outlets on the wall Sep 8 -- I dropped Mom's keys on the floor around 28 times. Mom picked them back up and gave them back to me every time. She's spoiling me. Sep 11 -- A sad day for the world. But I learned how to pull to stand today. Sep 12 -- Crawled all the way up the stairs Sep 18 -- Grandma arrived FAVORITE TOY: Toys bore me. I like doors, drawers, and light swithces. I love the phone and the remote control. I like any toy which I haven't ever seen before. And I still love paper.
NINE MONTHS OLD	Sep 20 -- FINALLY learned how to turn from back to stomach consistently. Now I do it all the time. And all night long Sep 24 -- Waking up, turning over, sitting up, and then falling back to sleep in very odd positions. Sep 25 -- Grandma went back home Sep 26 -- Kind of waving bye bye Sep 27 -- Playing peek a boo by myself, covering eyes with clothing Sep 28 -- Clapping Sep 28 -- Rejecting baby food Sep 29 -- Using left hand to eat a lot Early Oct -- Understands "mommy, daddy, up, light, peek a boo" Early Oct -- Don't want to sleep in my own bed. Want to sleep with Mommy! Oct 18 -- 17 pounds, 6 ounces 29 1/4 inches
TEN MONTHS OLD	Late Oct -- I like to stand all the time Oct 26 -- Went down 2 steps Oct 28 -- Said my first word! UP Early Nov -- When you say peek a boo, I cover my eyes with my hands Early Nov -- I brush my hair with the hair brush Early Nov -- I brush my 2 teeth with my tooth brush Nov 10 -- I can use a spoon on my own (but not very well Mid Nov -- I put the phone next to my ear Mid Nov -- I point the remote control at the TV Nov 16 -- I can stand unaided very briefly at times
ELEVEN MONTHS OLD	Nov 20 -- I can say "ba ba ba" for ball. Nov 20 -- I like to kick the ball with my right foot. Nov 22 -- Stood up in the middle of the room for about 30 seconds Nov 23 -- Two top front teeth starting to come in Nov 27 -- I can kick the ball while sitting Late Nov -- Cruising around the room. Ready to take my first steps Late Nov -- Scared of random objects such as goofy doll, slippers, and vaccum cleaner Late Nov -- Understands book, hug, kiss, brush your teeth, nose, banana, please. I say "ba ba ba" for ball and book Dec 4 -- Waving bye bye Dec 5 -- Got croup (bad cold) Dec 6 -- New babysitter: Ridvan started Dec 18 -- Got all excited in anticipation of my birthday. Tried to take a step and fell down. Busted open my lip. Blood all over day. Big swollen lips for my birthday party tomorrow! (see pix @ left)
TWELVE MONTHS OLD -- ONE YEAR!!!	Dec 19 -- Had a great birthday party. I played with a pen while Mom opened my presents. Some of the toys scared me. I stood up in the middle of the room during my party -- but I didn't want to take a step -- especially after falling and busting open my lip the night before. The cake was good. But it took me awhile to figure that out. Dec 20 -- I'm 18 lbs 12 oz and 30 7/8" long . Jan 13 -- Took my first steps!!! Now I'm doing it all the time. Got my 5th and 6th tooth this month If I want someone to look at something, I put my hand on their cheek and turn their head towards the object I want them to see I understand nose, ear, shoes & socks in Amharic I love to put on shoes -- especially Mom's, Dad's & Ridvan's shoes!
